Nilinaw ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. nitong Huwebes na hindi ipinagpaliban ang Maharlika Investment Fund (MIF), at nilinaw na nagsusumikap pa rin ang gobyerno na ipatupad ito ngayong taon.
“I was a bit alarmed by the news reports early this morning that I read in the newspapers that we have put the Maharlika Fund on hold. Quite the contrary,” ani Marcos sa kanyang talumpati bago tumulak pa-Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, para sa 2023 ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council Summit.
“We are, the organization of the Maharlika Fund proceeds apace, and what I have done though, is that we have found more improvements we can make, specifically to the organizational structure of the Maharlika Fund,” dagdag pa ng Pangulo.
Sa isang memorandum na may petsang Oktubre 12, 2023, inatasan ni Marcos ang pagsuspinde sa pagpapatupad ng mga implementing rules and regulations ng MIF “pending further study.”
Sinabi ni Marcos na ang pagsususpinde sa IRR ay hindi dapat bigyang-kahulugan bilang isang paghuhusga ng tama o mali ng MIF.
“On the contrary, we are just finding ways to make it as close to perfect and ideal as possible, and that is what we have done,” giit pa ng Pangulo. RNT
