SAN FRANCISCO, USA- Inihayag ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. nitong Sabado (PH Time) na naniniwala siyang panahon na para isulong ng Pilipinas at Peru ang mas maigting na relasyon dahil na rin sa “common colonial history” ng dalawang bansa.
“I find that this is important in this time, in our history because of the importance of alliances and the partnerships that we forge in this time as we are trying to recover, to transform the economies after the pandemic, and in the face of the many geopolitical shocks that both our countries are feeling,” pahayag ni Marcos sa bilateral meeting kasama si Peruvian President Dina Boluarte.
Inimbitahan naman ni Boluarte si Marcos na bumisita sa Peru upang gunitain ang pagtatatag ng pormal na relasyon sa pagitang ng dalawang bansa at upang magdala ng Filipino investment sa South American country.
“And I would also like to take this opportunity to invite you officially for [an] official State Visit to Peru, to celebrate 50 years of our bilateral ties and next year it is going to be 50 years. So, we’d be honored if you can pay a state visit to us to commemorate,” wika ni Boluarte.
“And so, we look forward to welcoming you to Peru with open arms and warm heart to have that brotherly and sisterly treatment between our countries,” patuloy niya.
Sinabi ni Boluarte na bubuksan ng Peru ang embahada nito sa Manila at umaasa umano siya na ganoon din ang gagawin ng Pilipinas sa Peru.
Aniya, isinara ng Peru angembahada nito sa Manila noong 2003 bilang bahagi ng austerity program nito. Saklaw ng Peruvian Ambassador in Bangkok ang Pilipinas bilang non-resident Ambassador.
“This will be a very important step in shortening the distance and shortening time in order to continue the ties between the Philippines and Peru,” ani Boluarte.
Gayundin, sinabi ni Boluarte na nais niyang magtulungan ang trade agencies ng Peru at ng Pilipinas upang madala ng South American country ang agricultural products nito tulad ng ubas, avocado, at blueberries sa Pilipinas.
