MANILA, Philippines – Nagpahayag ng pagkabahala si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. kaugnay sa tuloy-tuloy na pagtatayo ng mga base-militar ng China sa West Philippine Sea.
Ito ang sinabi ng Pangulo kasabay ng security talk sa Hawaii, kung saan ang sitwasyon umano sa pinag-aagawang teritoryo ay nagiging mas mainit.
Ani Marcos nitong Lunes, Nobyembre 20, patuloy na inookupa ng People’s Liberation Army (PLA) ng China ang malaking bahagi ng WPS.
“The nearest reefs that the PLA has started to show interest in, in terms of slowly using these shoals… for building bases, that’s what they are. They have come closer and closer to the Philippines coastline,” pahayag niya kasabay ng The Daniel K. Inouye Speaker Series.
Dagdag pa ni Marcos, “the nearest one is now around 60 nautical miles from the nearest Philippine coast.”
Dahil dito, iginiit niya ang pangangailangan na palakasin ang ugnayan ng Pilipinas sa mas marami pang bansa, partikular na ang Estados Unidos.
Matatandaan na nagpapatuloy ang China sa mga agresibong aksyon nito sa mga barko ng Pilipinas na naglalayag sa West Philippine Sea.
Sa kanyang speech, sinabi ni Marcos na ang Pilipinas ay “will not give up a single square inch of our territory to any foreign power.”
“Supported by the rules-based international order and our growing partnerships, both time-tested and new ones, we will insist on the preservation of the sovereignty and integrity of the country, while working closely with international partners in the bilateral, regional, and multilateral settings in developing rules and processes to address these challenges,” dagdag pa niya.
