PCG, BFAR teams sinalubong matapos maglagay ng boya sa WPS

MANILA, Philippines- Sinalubong ang teams mula sa Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) at Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) nitong Lunes matapos ang paglalagay ng navigational buoys sa West Philippine Sea.

Pinangunahan ni National Security Adviser Eduardo Año at PCG chief Admiral Artemio Abu ang arrival ceremony sa PCG headquarters sa Manila.

Sa operasyon na isinagawa mula May 10 hanggang 12, naglagay ang teams ng limang buoys para markahan ang Philippine territory sa pinagtatalunang katubigan, at sinabing magsisilbi itong sovereign markers at tulong sa navigational safety para sa mga barko.

Base sa PCG, limang vessels—BRP Teresa Magbanua (MRRV-9701), BRP Malapascua (MRRV-4403), BRP Malabrigo (MRRV-4402), BRP Lapu-Lapu (MMOV-5001), at BRP Corregidor (AE-891)—ang sinakyan ng teams patungong Patag Island, Balagtas Reef, Kota Island, Panata Island, at Julian Felipe Reef, kung saan inilagaya ang buoys.

“It is important for us to mark our territory by solidifying these boundaries, announcing to the world the scope of our sovereignty. Of course, we cannot draw lines on water, but marine buoys are as close we can get to internationally recognized markers of our territory,” pahayag ni Abu sa seremonya.

Nakapaglagay na ang PCG ng 10 buoys, at binabalak na magtalaga pa ng anim bago matapos ang taon ito. RNT/SA
