MANILA, Philippines- Hinimok ni Cagayan De Oro City Rep. Rufus Rodriguez ang administrasyong Marcos na simulan muli ang usaping pangkapayapaan sa pagitan ng Communist Party of the Philippines, New People’s Army at National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF).
Sinabi ito ni Rodriguez kasunod ng pahayag ni Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro na hindi nito kinokonsidera ang peace talks.
“I hope that he [Teodoro] reconsiders that position, because this long-running communist insurgency has resulted in the loss of many Filipino lives — communist guerrillas, soldiers and civilians, including children,” pahayag ni Rodriguez.
Giit ni Rodriguez na may obligasyon ang pamahalaan na makipagnegosasyon sa makakaliwang grupo sa halip na labanan ito.
“If the number of communists was dwindling, as Teodoro said in his interview, then the government was “morally obliged” to negotiate instead of fighting them. I am sure that these CPP-NPA-NDF remnants would want to enjoy life in peace with their families, instead of getting exterminated by the overwhelming military power of the state,” paliwanag pa ng mambabatas.
Inihalimbawa nito ang economic development na nararanasan ngayon sa Pampanga at Tarlac na dating kuta ng mga komunista.
“Look where Tarlac and Pampanga are now. They are growth areas. They are booming because there are no more communists there, and because the government built infrastructure like roads in these provinces,” dagdag pa niya.
Para kay Rodriguez, dapat na kumbinsihin ng pamahalaan ang pagsuko ng mga rebelde sa halip na labanan ito.
Matatandaan na noong 2017 ay hindi na binuksan muli ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang peace negotiations sa CPP kung saan ang lider nito na si Joma Sison ay namatay na noong 2022. Kris Jose
