PH-Japan-US trilateral talks umarangkada

MANILA, Philippines- Kinumpirma ng US Department of State na nagpulong ang senior diplomats mula sa Pilipinas, Japan, at US sa Tokyo bago ang summit ng trilateral leaders sa April 11.

Inihayag ni US Department of State spokesperson Matthew Miller na nakipagpulong si Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell kina Japanese Vice Foreign Minister Okano Masataka at Philippine Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro sa Tokyo, Japan, nitong Huwebes.

“Deputy Secretary Campbell, Vice Foreign Minister Okano, and Undersecretary Lazaro reiterated their collective commitment to maintaining peace and security in the Indo-Pacific, including in the South China Sea and East China Sea,” pahayag ni Miller.

Dagdag niya, “The Deputy Secretary and his counterparts also discussed trilateral cooperation in areas related to economic security and resilience, defense and security, the international law of the sea, including freedom of navigation, and growing people-to-people ties.”

Ayon pa sa opisyal, kasunod ang meeting ng “series of senior-level engagements” sa pagitan ng mga bansa upang palakasin ang trilateral cooperation sa pagitan ng Pilipinas, Japan, at US.

“The Deputy Secretary and his counterparts also discussed plans for a leader-level trilateral summit to be held in Washington, on April 11,” ani Miller.

Nauna nang kinumpirma ng US na bibisita sina Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. at Japan Prime Minister Kishida Fumio sa White House upang makipagpulong kay US President Joe Biden.

Sa summit, nakatakdang talakayin ng tatlong pinuno ang trilateral cooperation sa pagitan ng kani-kanilang bansa upang isulong ang inclusive economic growth at umuusbong na teknolohiya, gayundin ay palalimin ang kapayapaan at seguridad sa Indo-Pacific at sa buong mundo. RNT/SA.
