MANILA, Philippines – Patuloy na bubuksan ang pagbiyahe at turismo ng Pilipinas, ayon kay Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco nitong Martes, Mayo 16.
Sa press briefing sa Palasyo, natanong si Frasco kung magpapatupad ba ang bansa ng travel restrictions kasunod ng lumulobong kaso ng COVID-19.
Ani Frasco, magpapatuloy pa rin ang paabanteng hakbang ng bansa sa kabila ng pagdami ng kaso ng nasabing sakit.
“Tapos na po ‘yung pandemiya sabi po yan ng WHO, kaya naman po while we continue to support the Department of Health’s measure as well as ensuring the health and safety of our fellow Filipinos, the direction for the Philippines is forward and that is to ensure that we continue to open up the country to travel and tourism as is the direction set by our President,” aniya.
Sa kabila nito, sinabi niya na dapat pa ring pairalin ang minimum health standards upang maiwasan ang hawaan sa COVID-19.
“Of course all the minimum health and safety standards are in place and this is also made sure of as far as compliance with our DOT accredited establishments,” ani Frasco.
Ngayong buwan lamang ay inanunsyo ng World Health Organization na hindi na maituturing na global health emergency ang COVID-19.

DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire sa publiko na huwag pa ring mapanatag dahil nariyan pa rin ang pandemya. RNT/JGC
