MANILA, Philippines- Maaaring mabilanggo ang hackers na nag-leak ng datos mula sa ransomware attack laban sa Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) kamakailan hanggang 20 taon, ayon sa Philippine National Police (PNP) nitong Biyernes.
Sinabi ni PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo na nakagawa ng krimen ang hackers na maaaring parusahan sa ilalim ng Republic Act No. 10175 o ang Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
“Unauthorized access to a computer system is a criminal offense, and the hacker could face both criminal charges and civil liability for damages,” mensahe niya.
“Hacking and other illicit computer-related acts such as illegal access, illegal interception, data interference, system interference, and misuse of devices which includes unauthorized use of passwords, access codes, or similar data are all punishable with six to twelve years imprisonment and fines. Reclusion temporal for Illegal Access since Philhealth can be considered as critical infrastructure,” dagdag ng opisyal.
Ayon sa kanya, ang parusang reclusion temporal ay mula 12 taon at isang araw hanggang 20 taon.
Posible ring pagmumultahin ng P10 milyon ang sinumang mahahatulang guilty sa nasabing krimen, ayon sa batas.
Iniulat ng Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) nitong Huwebes na inilantad ng hackers ang nakompromisong datos mula sa ransomware attack laban sa PhilHealth.
Anang DICT, ini-upload ng Medusa ransomware group ang kopya ng mahigit 600 gigabytes ng files sa isang website at sa Telegram channel lampas alas-4 ng hapon nitong October 5, dalawang araw matapos ang deadline para sa hinihinging ransom na halos $300,000, tinatayang P17 milyon. RNT/SA
