Posibleng data breach sa mga estudyante, guro inaalam na ng DepEd

MANILA, Philippines – Sinabi ng Department of Education (DepEd) nitong Miyerkules, Pebrero 14 na biniberipika nito ang impormasyon na na-hack ang isa sa regional office ng ahensya, dahilan para makumpromiso ang datos ng mga estudyante at guro.

Ayon kay DepEd spokesperson Undersecretary Michael Poa, inatasan na ang field offices ng ahensya na magsagawa ng diagnostics at beripikahin kung mayroon ngang hacking incident.

“No report as of the moment as verification is ongoing. We will provide information as soon as we get them from our Regional and Division Information Officers,” ani Poa.

Sinabi pa niya na nakikipag-ugnayan na ang DepEd sa Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) patungkol dito.

Hindi rin agad natukoy kung saan matatagpuan ang apektadong regional office.

Nauna nang sinabi ni DICT Undersecretary for Cybersecurity Jeff Ian Dy na pinaniniwalaang nag-ooperate sa China ang mga hacker na nagtangkang pumasok sa email systems at internal websites ng ilang ahensya ng pamahalaan.

“These are believed to be advanced threat groups that operate within the ambit of Chinese territories,” ani Dy.

Pinasinungalingan naman ng China ang umano’y “groundless allegations” na tinangkang pasukin ng Chinese hackers ang email systems at internal websites ng ilang ahensya ng pamahalaan.

“Some Filipino officials and media maliciously speculated about and groundlessly accused China of engaging in cyber attacks against the Philippines, even went as far as connecting these cyber attacks with the South China Sea disputes,” sinabi ng tagapagsalita mula sa China.
