Pride Festival kicks off with Marcos, Sandovals

MALABON City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval and Senator Imee Marcos were in the forefront to the first-ever Pride Festival that kicked off over the weekend through a grand parade involving those from Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual community.
“The ‘Grand Sagalahan’ celebration reflects the strength of the LGBTQIA+ community and Sandoval’s commitment to inclusion.
Sandoval has been supportive of this particular sector of society even before she became Malabon’s chief executive as the LGBTQIA+ community has also been contributing to the continued progress of the city.
“Each Malabueño should feel valued for who they are and not for how they are identified. Upholding inclusivity and embracing diversity makes for a stronger city and a better place to live.”
The first-ever pride festival in the city was more than just a recognition of the beauty, talent and creativity of its LGBTQIA+ community.
Marijuana inside
condom
A male visitor who allegedly tried to sneak illegal drugs inside a condom which he hid on his anus into the detention facility was no match to the tight security being implemented by jail personnel in Quezon City.
QC Jail Male Dormitory warden Supt. Michelle Ng-Bonto said the suspect as Ramon dela Pena, 44, of Montalban, Rizal, is now detained and ‘reunited’ with the person deprived of liberty he’s supposed to visit when he’s caught red-handed Monday afternoon.
Prior to his arrest, the jail visitor was subjected to frisking and body search wherein he allegedly yielded an undetermined amount of marijuana found hidden inside a condom which was inserted on his anus.
The female jail warden of the all-male detention facility said that the arrest of the suspect was made with the presence of policemen from the nearby Police Station-10 as well as barangay and media representatives.
“We have been implementing tight security inside the detention facility and all visitors are not spared from frisking and body cavity search,” Ng-Bonto said.
