MANILA, Philippines- Tumugon si Senior Deputy State Prosecutor Richard Fadullon nitong Linggo sa pahayag ng kampo ni expelled Negros Oriental Representative Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves Jr., na sinabing dapat busisiin ng trial court ang recantations.
Inihayag ni Fadullon na lahat ay may sariling opinyon, “regardless of how flawed it is.”
“(A)ny lawyer worth his oath should be aware that recantations go into the credibility of the witness and therefore, it is best addressed and appreciated by the trial court in the course of a full blown trial,” aniya.
“It is irresponsible to make a sweeping statement that the Department of Justice is being used as an instrument for prosecuting people at the behest of certain interested persons,” dagdag ng prosecutor.
Ito ang naging pahayag ng prosecutos kasunod ng pahayag ng legal counsel ni Teves na si Atty. Ferdinand Topacio na pag-aaralan ng kanilang kampo lahat ng posibleng liabilities na maaaring ikasa laban sa panel ng 10 prosecutors dahil sa umabo’y hindi pagkonsidera sa pagbawi ng salaysay bg 10 akusado sa pagpatay kay Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo.
“If the accused feels aggrieved by the resolution there are legal remedies that are available to them. Certainly, threatening the Panel of prosecutors and whining before the media is not among those,” giit ni Fadullon.
Inilahad ni Topacio na pag-aaralan ng kanilang kampo lahat ng legal options sa inilabas na e-warrant of arrest ng Manila court laban kay Teves sa pagpatay kay Degamo.
Ito ay kasunod ng pag-anunsyo ng Department of Justice (DOJ) noong Agosto na naghain ng kasong murder, frustrated murder, at attempted murder laban kay Teves sa March 4 killing kay Degamo at siyam pa.
Agad namang naglabas ang Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 51 ng e-warrant of arrest laban kina Teves, Angelo Palagtiw, isang nagngangalang “Gie Ann” i “Jie An,” at Captain Lloyd Cruz Garcia II.
Ani Topacio, hindi pa natatanggap ng kanilang kampo ang kopya ng DOJ resolution laban kay Teves, maging ang e-warrant of arrest.
Pinaslang si Degamo nang pagbabarilin ng mga armadong kalalakihan habang namamahagi ng tulong sa kanyang constituents sa kanyang tahanan sa Pamplona, Negros Oriental noong March 4.
Itinanggi ni Teves na may kinalaman sila ng kanyang kapatid na si Henry sa pagpatay kay Degamo, at iginiit na politically motivated ang alegasyon. *RNT/SA*
