MANILA, Philippines- Pinaiiral ng Philippine government ang “quiet diplomacy” upang matiyak na ligtas na makakalaya ang 17 Filipino seafarers na binihag ng Houthi rebels sa Red Sea, ayon sa Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
Sa mensahe nitong Huwebes ng gabi, sinabi ni DFA Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega na ang Filipino hostages ay “allowed to contact their families.”
“They are being allowed to contact their families to assure them that they are safe. We are working on quiet diplomacy to get them released,” ayon kay de Vega.
Nang tanungin kung kailan nakatakdang palayain ang Filipino seafarers, sinabi ng DFA official, “No news yet on [the] date but we remain hopeful.”
Kinumpirma ng DFA nitong November 22 na kabilang ang 17 Filipino na sakay ng Galaxy Leader cargo ship sa binihag ng Houthi armed group. RNT/SA
