MANILA, Philippines – Kasunod ng hakbang House of Representatives leaders, sinabi ni Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri na target din ng upper chamber na i-relocate ang mga hindi kinakailangang pondo sa ilang ahensya sa intelligence agencies, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), at Armed Forces of the Philippines ( AFP).
“We have agreed in the Senate to do the same. We also will [be] reallocating funds that we feel are not necessary for the use of certain agencies and allocate them to our [i]ntelligence Community as well as our Coast guard and AFP,” ani Zubiri sa Viber message sa mga reporter.
Nang tanungin kung isasama ang confidential fund sa ilalim ng Office of the Vice President (OVP) at ng Department of Education (DepEd), sinabi ni Zubiri na “We shall review all agencies.”
Nitong umaga ng Miyerkoles, naglabas ng magkasanib na pahayag ang house leaders, na muling ibigay ang kumpidensyal at intelligence funds (CIF) sa mga ahensyang namamahala sa mga aktibidad sa paniktik at pagsubaybay sa gitna ng mga kamakailang kaganapan sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).
Sinabi ng mga mambabatas na ang mga benepisyaryo ng relokasyon na ito ay kinabibilangan ng National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA), National Security Council (NSC), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), at Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).
Ang kabuuang confidential at intelligence funds na iminungkahi para sa 2024 kabuuang P10.142 bilyon, ayon sa mga dokumento mula sa Department of Budget and Management (DBM). Mas mataas ito ng P120 milyon kaysa sa P10.02 bilyon na nakalaan para sa CIF noong 2023. RNT
