MANILA, Philippines- Nanawagan si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa mga bansa mula sa Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) na tumulong na tiyakin na sapat na suplay ng langis at gas sa ASEAN nations.
“We call on the GCC countries to help ensure the reliable and sufficient supply of oil and gas to ASEAN member states to respond in a timely and effective manner to the vicissitudes of today’s energy economics, deepening social cleavages, and the disruptions of adverse geopolitical developments,” ayon kay Pangulong Marcos sa kanyang interbensyon sa ASEAN-GCC Summit.
“We recognize that chemical fertilizers are the by-products of the petrochemical refinement process, and the GCC can also help ASEAN maintain its food security by filling up supply deficiencies in fertilizer export to our region,” dagdag na pahayag nito.
Nauna rito, napaulat na posibleng magkaroon ng rollback sa presyo ng mga produktong petrolyo pagkatapos ng biyahe ni Pangulong Marcos sa Saudi Arabia.
“Okay, actually, we’re going far, far ahead na because so far we’re only… at this point, we’re still talking of possible cooperation on supply activities,” sinabi ni Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Office of ASEAN Affairs Assistant Secretary Daniel Espiritu sa press briefing sa Malakanyang nitong Lunes, Oktubre 16.
Maliban sa oil supply, kinilala rin ng Pangulo ang ‘potential synergies’ ng capital investment sa pagitan ng hub economies ng GCC countries at ASEAN Member States para tugunan ang “food supply, renewable energy transformation, at supply chain disruptions.”
“These synergies will also help enhance the global logistics chains indispensable to trade and the international division of labor in manufacturing,” ayon kay Pangulong Marcos.
Ang mga bansang bahagi ng GCC ay nagsisilbing tahanan para sa milyong Filipino at 2.7 milyong mamamayan ng ASEAN member states ang nagtatrabaho sa iba’t ibang larangan. Kris Jose
