MANILA, Philippines – Hinimok ang bagong talagang Health Secretary na si Dr. Teodoro “Ted” Herbosa ng ilang miyembro ng Kamara na tutukan ang mga isyu na may kinalaman sa health system ng bansa kabilang ang Universal Healthcare.
Kasunod ng pagkakatalaga kay Herbosa bilang kalihim ng Department of Health, binati siya ni dating DOH secretary at ngayon ay Iloilo 1st District Rep. Janette Garin ngunit inabisuhan din kung ano ang mga dapat nitong tutukan.
“What the DOH needs now is a manager that can steward the fast delivery of services to our people. This, coupled with timely rebuttal of infodemics/fake medical news can empower the Filipino people and help achieve what is best for all of us: a country delivering for its people,” ani Garin.
Samantala, sinabi naman ni Bagong Henerasyon partylist Rep. Bernadette Herrera na ang appointment ni Herbosa ay talagang kailangan-kailangan na.
“We really need to get back on track to Universal Health Care and the modernization of the healthcare system at the local, regional, and national levels. The pandemic robbed us of the chance to implement the first stages of universal health care these past three years. We need to make up for lost time,” sinabi ni Herrera sa hiwalay na pahayag.
Hinamon naman ni ACT Teachers partylist Rep. France Castro si Herbosa na tutukan niya ang mga isyung pangkalusugan ng mga pangkaraniwang Filipino.
“We hope that he would truly serve the interest and health issues of the Filipino people and not just engage in red-tagging or trolling,” sinabi naman ni Castro.
Noong 2021 ay nagbitiw si Herbosa bilang Bise Presidente ng University of the Philippines matapos ang kontrobersyal niyang pahayag online laban sa community pantry ng aktres na si Angel Locsin.
“The next several weeks are crucial, especially so with the budget formulation process already underway, and the budget hearings will soon ensue in Congress from August to December,” sinabi ni Barangay Health Workers partylist Rep. Angelica Natasha Co.
Matatandaan na nitong Lunes, Hunyo 5 ay inanunsyo ng pamahalaan ang pagkakatalaga kay Herbosa bilang DOH Secretary. RNT/JGC
