MANILA, Philippines – Hinimok ni Cagayan de Oro City Rep. Rufus Rodriguez ang Senado na talakayon na ang ipinasang House resolution ng Kamara na nagsususulong na amyendahan ang economic provisions sa Saligang Batas.
Ayon kay Rodriguez anumang delay sa deliberasyon ng ChaCha sa Senado ay magkakaroon ng malaking epekto.
“We want to resolve this issue on Charter change (Cha-cha) during our first regular session or in the early part of our second regular session, if possible. If we delay it, we will be overtaken by the 2025 election campaign season, and people would again suspect our constitutional reform push of being politically motivated,” paliwanag ni Rodriguez.
Ayon kay Rodriguez, Chairman ng House committee on constitutional amendments, sa mga nakalipas na taon ay hindi natatalakay ang ChaCha dahil sa kakulangan ng oras subalit ngayon ay may panahon para ito pagdebatihan kung sisimulan agad ng Senado.
Matatandaan na una nang ipinasa ng House of Representatives ang Resolution of Both Houses No. 2 (RBH 2) at ang House Bill No. 7352 noong Marso subalit hanggang ngayon ay hindi pa rin ito tinatalakay sa Senado.
“We should avoid that so that our initiative could succeed this time. As it is, we are fast running out of time,” giit ng mambabatas.
Ang RBH 2 ay nagsususlong ng constitutional convention sa pag amyenda sa Saligang Batas.
Sinabi ni Rodriguez na panahon na para buksan ang bansa sa foreign investment at pagluluwag ng ownership restrictions uoang sa mabilis na pag unlad ng bansa.
“We should consider that the Constitution is the fundamental law of the land. Unless and until the constitutional restrictions are removed, the apprehensions and hesitancy on the part of foreign investors will always remain,” pagtatapos pa ni Rodriguez. Gail Mendoza
