MANILA, Philippines – Matinding tinabla ni Senador Grace Poe ang panukalang isuspendi ang online registration sa ilalim ng SIM Registration Law na iminumungkahi ng Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC).
Ipilutang ang panukala matapos matuklasan na tinatanggap ng sistema sa pagpaparehistro sa alinmang telecommunication companies ang pekeng pagkakailanlan at impormasyon tulad ng litrato ng unggoy o anime.
“The problem is not with the SIM Registration law, it’s in the enforcement. The law has enough teeth against fraudsters as well as safeguards to privacy of our people,” ayon kay Poe, principal sponsor ng law, sa Viber message sa reporters.
Sinabi ni Poe na kapag sinuspinde ang online registration sa ngayon, magkakaroon ng mas maraming problema na maaaring lutasin sa pamamagitan ng mas mahusay na Implementasyon ng “well-intentioned law.”
“Concerned agencies and telcos (telecommunication companies) must be able to plug the loopholes in their effective implementation without halting registration. Backing down against scammers is not an option,” ani Poe.
“Nasa gobyerno ang responsibilidad para mapabuti ang sistema. NTC is currently working hand-in-hand with telcos to reinforce validation measures and improve the SIM registration process,” giit niya.
Ayon kay Poe, kanilang isinusulong ang pagpapahusay ng beripikasyon at post-validation procedures sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng live selfies, facial liveness, at face matching sa ilalim nang pinaunlad na guidelines.
Isinusulong din ng Senado ang pagbabawal sa paggamit ng option na gamitin angs stock photyos o pagsusumite ng identification cards na hindi tugma sa live selfies upang masugpo ang fraudulent registrations.
“Hindi na makaka-register ang mga anime at matsing,” aniya.
Hinikayat din ni Poe, chairman ng Senate public services committee ang lahat ng telecommunication companies na maging mas proactive sa pagbabantay ng database at pamuhunan sa technological advances upang protektahan ang kanilang subscribers.
“At the end of the day, it will not be enough to filter out fraudulent messages. To address these growing and evolving digital scams, we have to root out its source,” giit niya
“What is needed, as provided in the SIM Registration Act, is a concerted effort between stakeholders and relevant agencies to counter these cybercrimes at all fronts,” ani Poe.
Kamakailan, napaulat na nasamsam ng awtoridad ang isang kagamitan na maaaring makapagparehistro ng 64 SIM nang sabay-sabay na mabibili ang makina kahit online lang. Ernie Reyes
