Manila, Philippines – Aminado ang aktres/producer na si Tess Tolentino na naka-relate siya sa ginampanang role sa pelikulang Manang.
Ang pelikula ay pinamahalaan ni Direk Romm Burlat and produced by Teresita Tolentino Pambuan (TTP) Productions. Ipalalabas ito bandang August o September.
Ang Manang ay ukol sa istorya ng taong iginagalang na hindi nangangahulugang matanda na. Ito ang mga taong dapat nirerespeto.
Istorya ito ng mga guro at maraming aral ang mapupulot dito. Co-stars dito ni Ms. Tess sina Julio Diaz, Sabrina M. at Janice Jurado.
Esplika ni Ms. Tess, “Ako iyong teacher dito na matino, na opposite ng role ni Janice.
“Lahat makaka-relate rito hindi lang teachers, lahat makaka-relate, matanda, bata… kasi ay may moral lesson ito, eh, at the end. Talagang iyong ginawa ng teacher dito, hindi lang ‘yung sa eskuwela, its beyond her role as a teacher pa.”
Dagdag pa niya, “Yes, in real life ay teacher ako for almost 40 years. Hindi lang teacher ang makaka-relate dito sa aming movie na Manang, pati mga magulang, iyong mga naliliko ng landas sa buhay, iyong walang nabibigay na motivation sa kanilang mga anak…
“I retired as a Special Education teacher in California, USA in 2021. I taught in Hayward Unified School District in Hayward California; but before that I was a licence teacher here in the Philippines and taught English subject in high school. Then I transferred my teaching credential in the US after passing the test there.”
Ito na ang third movie ni Ms. Tess, nauna niyang ginawa ang Minsa’y Isang Alitaptap na sinundan ng Si Ana at ang Sitio.
Nabanggit din niyang ang pelikulang ito’y tribute sa mga teacher na itinuturing na pangalawang magulang ng mga mag-aaral at kabalikat sa kanilang magiging magandang kinabukasan sa hinaharap.
Sambit ni Ms. Tess, “Yes, I can say that this movie, Manang, is a tribute to all the teachers, for being the source of students’ knowledge and wisdom. In the movie I portrayed the role of a teacher, who touched many lives in her community beyond her duty as a teacher and motivated her students to see the value of education thru the lessons she prepared for her classes. Manang transformed or molded her students to see themselves in the future as successful human beings.
“At the end, parang maligaya sila sa natapos ng anak nila, dahil doon sa magaling na teacher na may malasakit sa mga estudyante nila. May moral lesson talaga sa movie,” nakangiting pakli pa ni Ms. Tess. Nonie Nicasio
