MANILA, Philippines- Binabantayan ng Timor-Leste ang borders nito laban sa anumang pagtatangka ng pinatalsik na mambabatas ng Negros Oriental na si Arnolfo “Arnie” A. Teves Jr. na tumakas mula sa City of Dali kung saan siya naaresto, base sa Department of Justice (DOJ) nitong Linggo.
Inihayag ni DOJ Assistant Secretary Jose Dominic F. Clavano IV na “the Timor- Leste government assures us that he will not leave.”
Ani Clavano, ikinasa ito ng Timor-Leste government matapos pakawalan si Teves mula sa house arrest noong Biyernes, Hunyo 21.
“The obvious goal of the other camp is to leave Timor Leste and rejoin his family in another country,” wika ng opisyal. “This is why all boarders have been notified that Teves is a flight risk,” dagdag niya.
Inihirit ng Philippine government ang extradition ni Teves at kasalukuyang nakabinbin ang resolusyon sa kaso sa Court of Appeals ng Timor-Leste.
Ani Clavano, habang hinihintay ang resolusyon sa extradition case, hindi papayagan si Teves na makaalis ng Timor-Leste.
Nakikipag-ugnayan umano ang Philippine government “with our international counterparts in Timor-Leste to ensure that the Philippine government may attain justice for the alleged victims of Teves crying for justice despite the evasive attitude of fugitive/terrorist designated and former lawmaker.”
Naghaharap si Teves, tinukoy na terorsta ng Anti-Terrorism Council (ATC) noong nakaraang taon, sa ilang kaso kabilang ang March 4, 2023 shootings sa Pamplona, Negros Oriental na nagresulta sa pagkamatay ni provincial governor Roel Degamo at siyam pang indibidwal.
