MANILA, Philippines- Matinding binatikos ng ilang lider ng Senado ang China sa patuloy na panggigipit at panghihimasok nito sa teritoryo ng Pilipinas matapos bombahin ng tubig ang resupply ships ng Pilipinas patungong Ayungin Shoal.
Sa magkakahiwalay na pahayag, sinabi nina Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri at Senator Jinggoy Estrada na hindi katanggap-tanggap ang huling insidente sa WPS nang bombahin ng Chinese Coast Guard ang Philippine resupply ships patungo sa Ayungin Shoal.
Kinondena ni Zubiri ang ilegal na pagkilos ng Chinese Coast Guard at inakusahan ang China sa pagiging “bully “ nito.
“We again see China as a bully: using size and brute strength to illegally encroach upon our EEZ and enforce a baseless right to drive away our protectors,” aniya.
“But water cannons and blockades will not dampen the will and resolve of our Navy and our Coast Guard to protect our exclusive economic zone in the West Philippine Sea,” dagdag ng senador.
Sinabi ni Zubiri na hindi maaaring ikatuwiran ng China na pagdepensa ang kanilang pagkilos dahil mas malaki ang kanilang barko at mas advanced kaysa sa barko ng Pilipinas.
“We remind the Chinese Coast Guard that no amount of aggression can undo the fact that the Chinese government’s claims to the WPS have already been invalidated by the Permanent Court of Arbitration,” giit niya.
Kasabay nito, muling pinapurihan ni Zubiri ang pagkilos ng Philippine Navy at Coast Guard sa pagbibigay-proteksyon sa Exclusive Economic Zone ng Pilipinas.
“Bear in mind that your Philippine Senate is behind you 100%,” ayon kay Zubiri.
Samantala, inirekomenda ni Estrada sa Senado na ikonsidera ang adopted Senate Resolution No. 79, na nagmumungkahi na maghain ng resolusyon sa United Nations General Assembly upang mapatigil ang lahat ng aktibidad na lumalabag sa karapatan ng Pilipinas sa West Philippine Sea.
Bukod dito, pinagtibay din ng Senado ang isang resolusyon na komokondena sa harassment at ilegal na pagkilos ng China sa lugar.
“China should be made to stop its illegal activities. Recent developments involving China’s unlawful acts and increasing aggression against our vessels are leaving us with no other recourse but to take appropriate action in asserting and securing our sovereign rights over our exclusive economic zone,” aniya.
“Sa hindi na mabilang na insidente sa WPS, hindi ni minsan tayo gumawa ng mga hakbang gaya ng mga pambu-bully nila sa atin. At minsan na rin nasabi ni Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, sa isang virtual forum ng Chinese Embassy sa Manila noong January 17, na: ‘This is not a proper way for neighbors to treat each other,’” dagdag niya.
Kinondena ng Pilipinas ang Chinese Coast Guard sa pagbomba ng tubig sa barko na magdadala ng suplay sa tropang Filipino na nakatalaga sa West Philippine Sea.
“CCG vessel 5203 deployed water cannon against Philippine supply vessel M/L Kalayaan in an illegal though unsuccessful attempt to force the latter to alter course,” ayon sa Philippine government task force.
“We condemn, once again, China’s latest unprovoked acts of coercion and dangerous maneuvers against a legitimate and routine Philippine rotation and resupply mission,” dagdag nito. Ernie Reyes
