MANILA, Philippines – Inihayag ng opisyal mula sa Office of the Vice President nitong Lunes, Setyembre 4, na nagpapatuloy pa rin ang negosasyon sa pagbili ng lupa na gagamitin para sa permanenteng opisina nito.
Sa budget deliberation ng Senate Finance Committee sa proposed budget ng OVP na nagkakahalaga ng P2.385 billion para sa fiscal year 2024, tinanong ni Senador Sherwin Gatchalian ang OVP patungkol sa permanenteng opisina nito.
Bilang tugon, sinabi ni chief of staff Atty. Zuleika Lopez na may mga ikinokonsidera nang lugar ang OVP na pagtayuan ng opisina nito.
“There is a plan, there is a… we’re still under negotiations for land acquisition for the construction of our OVP permanent office,” ani Lopez.
Nang tanungin naman siya kung ito ba ay popondohan sa proposed 2024 budget, tugon niya:
“It’s still in the pipeline because it’s still undergoing negotiations as to the matter of land acquisition. We are considering sites for the said OVP building.”
“It is a planned project for the term of the Vice President,” dagdag pa ni Lopez.
Nauna nang sinabi ni Vice President Sara Duterte na ang permanent residence para sa OBP ay isang “singular legacy” na nais niyang iwanan matapos ang kanyang anim na taong termino.
“The singular legacy that we want to leave after six years is a permanent residence for the future vice presidents,” pagbabahagi ni Duterte sa mga mamamahayag sa Davao City, noong Hunyo 2022.
Sinabi rin ni Atty. Reynold Munsayac, spokesperson ni Vice President Duterte, na ang pagkakaroon ng permanenteng opisina para sa OVP ay magpapababa sa operating costs nito.
“This will result in stability and reduce cost in office operations, considering that future vice presidents will no longer need to rent temporary office to house their staff,” ani Munsayac. RNT/JGC
