VALENZUELA LAUNCHES ‘PEOPLE’S DAY SA BARANGAY’ CARAVAN

VALENZUELA City Mayor Wes Gatchalian continues to be well-loved by his constituents for his unique leadership style and untiring efforts in personally connecting with them – from the youth to the elderly.

Good Riddance is a witness to his hectic schedules outside his office at the city hall while mingling with the residents, playing with the youth and even dancing gamely with the elderly.

What a kind of a leader to his people, worth-emulating indeed!

Just recently, he led the launching of the ‘People’s Day sa Barangay’ caravan which features various social services in Barangay Karuhatan as a pilot area.

Celebrating 26 years of cityhood, several satellite offices were set up by the city government in its ‘one-stop-shop initiative for the ‘Valenzueno’ folk.

Some of the services were free legal consultation, free wifi and printing, medical assistance payouts, burial assistance payouts, free consultation with City Hall officers-in-charge, open forum ‘Kamustahan with Mayor WES’, free bread and coffee ‘Kapihan’ and a City Social Welfare and Development Office Help Desk for other social services.

The mayor said they aimed to implement the “People’s Day sa Barangay” caravan in all the city’s barangays.

“Promoting inclusivity and accessibility in its social services, this initiative focuses on addressing the questions, concerns, and requests of ‘Valenzuelanos’ from every barangay and delivering immediate action,” he said.

The program also provided an opportunity to open a community dialogue between the mayor and six homeowner’s associations (HOA) in the barangay.

A chance to have their voices heard, Mayor Wes, Punong Barangay Martell Soledad, and other concerned office heads engaged in open communication with HOA officers to settle their concerns.

Concluding its launch, the event catered to approximately 300 attendees as there were around 159 recipients of medical assistance and seven recipients of burial assistance.

A turn-over of assistive devices also took place; four people received wheelchairs while one person received a walker.

Recognizing the residents as a crucial part of progress, the Gatchalian administration will formulate more programs, projects, and initiatives – all in the service of the Pamilyang Valenzuelaño.
