MANILA, Philippines- Matapos masawi ng Grade 5 student dahil sa umano’y pananampal ng guro, pinaalalahanan ni Vice President and Education Sara Duterte nitong Huwebes ang mga guro na alagaan ang mga bata at huwag saktan ang mga ito.
Sa National Teachers’ Day celebration sa Butuan City, binanggi ni Duterte ang isyu sa pagkamatay ni Francis Jay Gumikib, na na-coma ilang araw matapos umanong sampalin ng guto sa Filipino sa Peñafrancia Elementary School.
“Let me just remind you, all our teachers, that the children are entrusted to your care,” aniya.
“Whether it be physical, sexual, verbal abuse, you don’t do that to children, especially those that are entrusted to your care fully by the community, by their families,” dagdag ni Duterte.
Sinabi pa niya sa mga guro na nakaaapekto ang mga ginagawa nila sa mga estudyante. Kaya naman, dapat tiyaking ang mga askyon nila ay “something that is positive.”
“You are supposed to take care of them, you’re supposed to mold them into the best citizens that we can have for the future of our country. You are supposed to ensure that they are happy…to learn what you are teaching,” patuloy niya.
Hinihintay pa umano ang resulta ng autopsy mula sa mga awtoridad.
Batay sa death certificate ni Gumikib, namatay siya dahil sa global brain edema, “with an antecedent cause of acute intraparenchymal hemorrhage or bleeding into the brain tissue.”
Gayundin, nadiskubreng mayroon itong presumptive pulmonary tuberculosis at nakaranas ng child physical abuse.
Inanunsyo ng Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Office nitong Martes na lumikha ng fact-finding investigation team sa pagkamatay ni Gumikib.
Samantala, naglunsad din ng imbestigasyon ang Commission on Human Rights (CHR) ukol dito.
Katatapos lamang ng autopsy ng Philippine National Police Forensic Laboratory sa mga labi ni Gumikib.
“Kahapon po ginawa ang autopsy. Past 12 noon po dumating at around 4 p.m. po tapos na,” ani PNP-FG public information officer Police Major Rodrigo Sotero Jr. nitong Miyerkules.
“As of now ay wala pa po. But the autopsy report will be released po seven working days after the autopsy,” dagdag niya. RNT/SA
