MANILA, Philippines – NAKAHANAP ng kakampi si Vice President Sara Duterte sa gitna ng panawagan ng isang mambabatas na impeachment laban sa kanya.
Hayagang kinuwestiyon ng National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) ang motibo ng ACT Teachers party-list sa hangarin nito na patalsikin sa puwesto si VP Sara.
Sinabi ni NTF-ELCAC Strategic Communications Cluster Chairman Jonathan Malaya na ang bantang impeachment na ipinalabas ng ACT Teachers party-list laban kay VP Sara ay pagpapakita lamang na ang grupo ay mabuti lamang sa pagbabato ng intriga.
Si VP Sara ay itinalaga bilang vice chairperson ng NTF-ELCAC noong Mayo.
“This shows their political agenda to always portray the government in a bad light even before they get the complete picture. They do not wish to even hear the side of the Vice President and are hoping that they can smear the VP in the court of public opinion on the basis of conjecture and public speculation,” ayon kay Malaya sa isang kalatas, araw ng Martes, Agosto 29.
Nauna rito, sinabi ni House Deputy Minority leader at ACT Teachers party-list Rep. France Castro na naubos umano ng Office of the Vice President (OVP) ang P125 milyong Confidential fund nito sa huling 19 araw ng 2022.
Sinabi ni Castro na batay sa dokumento mula sa Department of Budget and Management, noong Disyembre 13 ay inilabas nito ang SARO-BMB-C-22-0012004 para sa OVP na nagkakahalaga ng P221,424,000 para sa Financial Assistance/Subsidy at Confidential Fund na inaprubahan ng Office of the President noong Nobyembre 28, 2022.
Pero para kay Malaya, ang impeachment threat laban kay VP Sara ay “clear weaponization of the power of impeachment.”
Aniya, ipinag-ingay ng party-list ang nasabing banta bago pa ang buong detalye ng budget spending ng OVP na available, sinasabing hindi na hinintay pa ng grupo ang “full report” ng COA.
“It proves that the ACT party-list is not and was never interested in getting to the facts. They are merely interested in getting as much political points they can get for the 2025 elections no matter who gets in their way,” ayon kay Malaya.
Dahil dito, hinikayat ni Malaya ang ACT Teachers party-list, “to go back what they’re supposed to be doing” sa pamamagitan ng paglilingkod sa teachers sector sa halip na pagbabanta sa kapangyarihan ng impeachment.
Tinawagan din niya ng pansin ang grupo na dalhin ang usapin ng education sector sa Kongreso at makipagtulungan kay VP Sara at sa Department of Education, para mapahusay ang kalidad ng edukasyon sa bansa.
“Only then will the Filipino people truly believe that they represent the education sector in Congress and not the interests of those who wish to bring down the government and our democratic way of life,” ang pahayag ni Malaya.
Hanggang ngayon ay wala pa ring tugon si Castro sa pahayag ng NTF-ELCAC bagama’t binawi na nito ang impeachment threat kay VP Sara.
Ang katuwiran ni Castro, masyado pa aniyang “premature” para ipanawagan ang pagpapatalsik sa puwesto kay VP Sara.
Sa halip, iginiit na lamang nito na linawin ng OVP ang umano’y illegal fund realignment.
