MANILA, Philippines- Kinasuhan ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Soccsksargen (DENR-12) ang dalawang lalaki sa viral video kung saan makikitang hinahawakan at inililipat nila ang mga tarsier sa South Cotabato.
Nagsampa ng kaso ang DENR-12 laban kina Ryan Parreño at Sammy Estrebilla dahil sa paglabag sa Wildlife Act of 2001 (RA 9147) in relation to Expanded National Integrated Protected Areas System Act of 2018 (RA 11038) nitong April 11, 2024.
“Our evaluation disclosed that a crime has been committed under the stated provisions of RA 9147. The filing of the case against the violators is an action taken so that the citizens would not imitate the disturbing same acts,” pahayag ni DENR-12 Regional Executive Director, Atty. Felix Alicer.
Nauna nang sinabi ng dalawa na inilipat nila ang mga tarsier sa ibang lugar dahil muntik nang matamaan ng kanilang bolo ang mga ito habang nagtatabas sa kanilang farm.
Humingi ng paumanhin ang isa sa kanila subalit nanindigan sa naging aksyong paglipat sa mga tarsier.
Inihayag ng DENR-12 na ang Philippine tarsiers ay tinukoy bilang Other Threatened Species (OTS).
