MANILA, Philippines – Inilunsad ng pamahalaan ng Pilipinas nitong Martes, Hulyo 16 ang “cruise visa waiver,” na mas nagpapadali sa proseso ng pagkuha ng visa para sa mga visa-required foreigners na nagbabakasyon sa Pilipinas sakay ng cruise ships.
Ang eligible foreigners ay maaaring mag-apply para sa waiver sa e-services portal ng Bureau of Immigration sa pamamagitan ng https://e-services.immigration.gov.ph.
Ayon kay Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco, inaasahan niyang makakapaghikayat ang programa sa mas marami pang pasahero ng cruise ships na ikinokonsidera ang Pilipinas bilang susunod na destinasyon.
Sa speech, sinabi ni Frasco na sumasalamin ito sa commitment ng Marcos administration para sa digitalisasyon at sa national cruise tourism development strategy ng bansa.
Noong 2023, ang bansa ay tumanggap ng 123 port calls na may dalang 101,000 pasahero.
Ngayong taon, inaasahan ng Department of Tourism ang 117 port calls na may 118,000 pasahero.
“With the implementation of the cruise visa waiver program, we expect these to increase and we expect more tourists to arrive in the Philippines, especially that the Philippines is well on its way towards becoming a preferred destination for luxurious expedition cruises to cruise ships that can accommodate a bigger number,” ani Frasco.
Ang waiver ay para sa single-entry use at valid sa maximum na 14 araw ng pananatili sa bansa. Hindi ito extendible at hindi rin convertible sa iba pang uri ng visa o status sa bansa. RNT/JGC
