MANILA, Philippines- Muling idineploy ng Philippine Air Force (PAF) nitong Miyerkules ang W-3A “Sokol” helicopter nito upang maghatid ng emergency goods at mga tauhan bilang bahagi ng umiiral na pagsisikap ng pamahalaan para sa typhoon-hit Batanes.
Ito ang ikalawang deployment ng Sokol helicopter mula Oct. 6, nang magdala ito ng relief packs at drinking water sa mga komunidad na sinalanta ni Super Typhoon Julian noong nakaraang linggo.
Sinabi ni PAF spokesperson Col. Ma. Consuelo Castillo na isinagawa ang misyong ito sa pakikipagtulungan sa Office of Civil Defense at sa Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Naghatid din ang helicopter ng DSWD personnel sa Itbayat, Batanes upang mamahagi ng cash assistance sa mga apektadong komunidad.
“(These relief goods and personnel) continue to provide vital humanitarian assistance in Itbayat, Batanes on Oct. 9, 2024,” dagdag niya.
Sinabi ni Castillo na ang idineploy ang “Sokol” helicopter ay nasa ilalim ng operational control ng Tactical Operations Group (TOG) 2 sa ilalim ng Tactical Operations Wing Northern Luzon (TOWNOL).
“These coordinated efforts are a testament to the Air Force’s commitment to supporting the national government’s efforts to help affected residents and ensure access to food and clean drinking water during this critical period,” patuloy niya. RNT/SA
