MANILA, Philippines – LABIS na nag-aalala ang Pilipinas hinggil sa lumalalang humanitarian situation sa Gaza at nagpapatuloy na karahasan sa Gitnang Silangan.
Kaya nga, hinikayat ni Pangulong Marcos ang mga kinauukulang panig na makipag-ayos para sa kapayapaan.
“The Philippines as well is gravely concerned over the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza and the increasing tensions in the Middle East region, particularly in Lebanon,” ang sinabi ni Pangulong Marcos sa kanyang interbensyon sa 19th East Asia Summit sa Vientiane, Laos noong Oktubre 11.
“We urge all parties to refrain from escalating the violence and to work towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict. The Philippines supports a two-state solution where Israel and Palestine coexist peacefully in mutual security,” ang sinabi ng Chief Executive.
“A total of 11,000 Filipinos are in Lebanon, with 192 ready for repatriation, and around 413 in process,” ayon naman sa mga awtoridad ng Pilipinas.
Inatasan naman ni Pangulong Marcos ang iba’t ibang ahensiya ng pamahalaan na gamitin ang kanilang ‘resources at assets’ para maiuwi ang mga apektadong Filipino.
Nanawagan naman ang Pangulo sa lahat ng nagpartisipang bansa sa East Asia Summit na i-renew ang kanilang commitment tungo sa “truly open, inclusive, and transparent regional architecture underpinned by the rule of law to address common challenges, and confront the critical issues.”
Ukol naman sa usapin ng Korean Peninsula, hinikayat ni Pangulong Marcos ang Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s (DPRK) na sumunod sa lahat ng kaugnay na United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.
Welcome naman aniya sa Pilipinas ang pagsisikap ng Republic of Korea na i-promote ang kapayapaan at katatagan sa Peninsula.
“The “Audacious Initiative” and the “August 15 Unification Doctrine” are important efforts in this regard. We have consistently supported the call for a complete, verifiable, and irreversible denuclearization of the DPRK,” ang winika ng Pangulo. Kris Jose
