MANILA, Philippines – Naharang ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) ang isang fuel tanker at apat na lorry na sangkot sa illegal na paglilipat ng gasoline o “paihi.”
Naaktuhan pa ng mga awtoridad ang paihi sa Port of Batangas.
Ang operasyon ay nag-ugat sa tip na natanggap ng BOC-Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (BOC-CIIS).
Sa pamamagitan ng SGS fuel marking testing sa subject fuel ay nakumpirma na ito ay walang tamang markings o nagpapatunay na binayaran ang duties at taxes nito.
Dahil dito ay nag-isyu ng warrant of seizue at detention ng gasoline, barko at lorries si District Collector Noah Dimaporo ng BOC-Port of Batangas.
“Our swift response and thorough investigation led to this successful seizure. The illegal transfer of fuel undermines our efforts to ensure proper tax collection and fair competition in the industry,” pahayag ni Dimaporo.
Ayon kay BOC Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio, ang operasyon ay tugon sa ilang impormasyon patungkol sa talamak na paihi modus sa mga pantalan.
Ang mga may-ari, kapitan, at crew ng naharang na mga barko, gasoline, at lorries ay mahaharap sa mga reklamong paglabag sa Section 1113 in relation to Section 1401 ng Republic Act 10863, o Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA), maging ang Section 80 ng RA 10963, o Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law.
