MANILA, Philippines – Umakyat na sa P80.80 milyon ang halaga ng pinsala sa agrikultura sa bansa dahil sa pananalasa ng Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.
Sa bulletin ng Department of Agriculture (DA) nitong Huwebes, Oktubre 24, apektado ng bagyong Kristine ang nasa 2,864 magsasaka sa Cordillera, Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Bicol at Western Visayas.
Aabot naman sa 5,287 metric tons ang dami ng production loss sakop ang 1,570 ektarya ng taniman.
“As field assessments continue, further damage and losses are anticipated, potentially impacting additional commodities,” ayon sa DA.
Naghanda naman ng interbensyon ang ahensya para sa mga apektado. Kasama rito ang P80.21 milyong halaga ng agricultural inputs (rice, corn, at vegetable seeds, drugs at biologics para sa mga livestock) mula sa DA Regional Field Offices CAR, III, IV-A, IV-B, V, at VIII; hanggang P25,000 loanable amount mula sa Survival and Recovery (SURE) Loan Program ng Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC), na maaaring bayaran sa loob ng tatlong taon sa zero interest; at Indemnification ng insured affected farmers sa pamamagitan ng Philippine Crop Insurance Corp.
