MANILA, Philippines- Sisimulan na ng Department of Agriculture (DA) ang Kadiwa ng Pangulo Rice-for-All program, kung saan nagbebenta ng bigas sa mas mababang presyo sa mga pangunahing pampublikong pamilihan sa National Capital Region (NCR).
“The DA, in partnership with the Food Terminal Inc., will deploy Kadiwa ng Pangulo kiosks in major public markets, including MRT and LRT stations. These kiosks will offer Rice-for-All at an affordable price of P40 per kilo, available from Tuesdays to Saturdays, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.,” ang sinabi ni DA Assistant Secretary Genevieve Guevarra, pinuno ng Kadiwa program.
Layon ng Rice-for-All program na makapagbigay ng abot-kaya o affordable rice options para sa mga mamimili at makatulong na masugpo ang mataas na retail prices.
Paunang ibinenta ng programa ang bigas sa halagang P45 kada kilo at sa kalaunan ay binawasan sa P43 kada kilo.
Sinabi ng DA na mas mababawasan pa ang presyo kung saan simula araw ng Huwebes, Disyembre 5 ay papalo na lamang ito sa halagang P40 kada kilo.
“Currently, we are coordinating with the following major markets in NCR for the rollout: Kamuning Market, Malabon Central Market, New Las Piñas City Public Market, Pasay City Public Market, Balintawak Market, Cartimar Market, Pateros Grace Marketplace, Maypajo Public Market, Paco Market,” ayon kay Guevarra.
Sa kabilang dako, ipinag-utos naman ni Agriculture Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr. ang deployment ng Kadiwa ng Pangulo kiosks sa pangunahing public markets para mapwersa ang rice retailers at unscrupulous traders na ipinagdadamot sa mga mamimili ang benepisyo ng mas mababang presyo ng bigas.
“We plan to expand this program to other parts of the country where prices of rice remain high, a situation that borders on profiteering,” ang sinabi ni Tiu Laurel.
Matatandaang una nang inaprubahan ni Pangulong Marcos ang karagdagang budget na P5 bilyon para suportahan ang P29 at Rice-for-All programs.
