MANILA, Philippines- Si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang “real prosecutor” sa kaso ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa International Criminal Court (ICC), ayon sa international legal counsel ng huli.
Sa media interview sa The Hague sa the Netherlands, inakusahan ng abogado ni Duterte na si Nicholas Kaufman, si Marcos of ng paggamit umano sa ICC process bilang bahagi ng kanyang political campaign.
“The real prosecutor in this case is actually in Manila, sitting in his Palace. He’s the person who threw President Duterte over here to The Hague,” pahayag ng abogado nitong Biyernes.
“He’s the person who used the Office of the Prosecutor as a tool in his political campaign, and it won’t work,” dagdag niya.
Ayon kay Kaufman, hindi ito nagtagumpay, partikular sa resulta ng midterm elections, kung saan nagwagi si Duterte bilang alkalde ng Davao City.
“The former president won a landslide victory. As far as I’m concerned, that’s a finger in the eye to the people who threw him over here,” giit niya.
“That’s the real point of the elections. It was a protest vote,” dagdag niya.
“Support him lawfully, and with all respect for due process, the judges, and the victims, who… have an important role to play.”
