MANILA, Philippines – Kinumprima ng Department of Justice (DOJ) na iuurong nila ang mosyon para muling pag-aralan ang pagpapawalang-sala kay Rep. Leila de Lima sa kasong droga, ayon kay Prosecutor General Richard Fadullon nitong Miyerkules.
“It should not have been filed in the first place,” ani Fadullon, at iginiit na magiging double jeopardy ang pagpupursige nito. Tinawag din ni Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla na “foolishness” ang apela.
Pinuri ni de Lima ang desisyon ng DOJ ngunit nanawagan na imbestigahan at parusahan ang mga piskal na nagsampa ng MR, na aniya ay kumilos base sa “political agenda.”
“I thank and commend SOJ Remulla for bringing sense and order… While it is good to hear, the question remains as to what should be done with these prosecutors who have abused our justice system for far too long? I call on the Justice Department to properly investigate and sanction them,” anang mambabatas. RNT
