MANILA, Philippines – Nagbigay ang European Union (EU) ng 500,000 euros o mahigit P33 million na humanitarian aid sa Pilipinas para tulungan ang mga apektado ng pagbaha dahil sa Southwest Monsoon o Habagat at sunod-sunod na mga bagyo.
“The funding will help address the most pressing needs of people in the hardest hit areas of Calabarzon and Central Luzon, notably communities in hard-to-reach areas,” saad sa pahayag ng EU nitong Lunes, Agosto 4.
“This allocation will be used to provide emergency relief, focusing on cash assistance to address food insecurity and other basic needs, as well as access to safe water and sanitation facilities, among other activities,” dagdag pa.
Sinabi ng EU na ang 500,000 euros ay karagdagang pondo mula sa 6 million euros na inilaan para sa humanitarian aid at disaster preparedness sa Pilipinas para sa 2025.
Ayon sa National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), nasa 2.365 milyong pamilya o 8.59 indibidwal ang naapektuhan ng sama ng panahon.
Mayroon namang 38 katao ang iniulat na nasawi dahil sa epekto ng Habagat at bagyong Crising, Dante, at Emong.
Samantala, mahigit P1.9 bilyong halaga ng agricultural infrastructure ang napinsala dahil dito. RNT/JGC
