MANILA, Philippines – Inaasahang papasok ang Tropical Storm Podul sa Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) sa Linggo o Lunes at tatawaging Gorio, ayon sa Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Sa inilabas na weather bulletin alas-5 ng hapon noong Biyernes, huling namataan ang sentro ng Podul sa layong 2,410 kilometro silangan ng extreme northern Luzon. Taglay nito ang lakas ng hanging aabot sa 75 kilometro kada oras malapit sa gitna, pagbugsong aabot sa 90 kph, at kumikilos pakanluran sa bilis na 15 kph.
“Podul is forecast to move generally west northwestward tonight through tomorrow (Agosto 9), then westward from Sunday (Agosto 10) through Tuesday next week (Agosto 12), then west northwestward for the remainder of the forecast period,” saad ng PAGASA.
“On the track forecast, Podul may enter the PAR region between Sunday late evening and Monday (Agosto 11) early morning,” dagdag nito, na nagdedetalye na tatawagin itong Gorio kapag nasa loob na ng PAR.
Sinabi ng Pagasa na unti-unting lalakas ito at maaaring umabot sa severe tropical storm category ngayong Sabado ng hapon.
“There is large uncertainty in the projected track and intensity of Podul for Monday to Wednesday (Agosto 13) since any northward or southward shift in the track forecast will significantly change in the intensity forecast for Monday to Wednesday,” dagdag nito. RNT/MND
