MANILA, Philippines – Sinabi ng Independent Commission on Infrastructure (ICI) nitong Linggo na walang kasalukuyang livestream para sa mga pagdinig nito, ngunit idinagdag na maghahanap ito ng solusyon na magbabalanse pareho ng “transparency” at “protection of individual rights.”
Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ng executive director ng ICI na si Brian Keith Hosaka na ang mga pagdinig ng komisyon ay hindi na-livestream, bagama’t alam nito ang mga kahilingan mula sa publiko na gawing available ang mga pagpupulong nito online.
“The initial hearings, so far, are for purposes of case buildup for criminal, civil, and administrative action. These cases will then be eventually referred to the appropriate agency for action, such as the ombudsman,” aniya,
“The ICI is avoiding trial by publicity, and will not allow it to be used for any political leverage or agenda by any individual or group,” paliwanag niya.
Sinabi ni Hosaka na tatalakayin niya ang usapin ng livestreaming ng mga pagdinig sa Komisyon upang maghanap ng “solution that will both balance the request for more transparency and the protection of individual rights.”
Samantala, tiniyak niya sa publiko na habang ang gawain ng ICI ay “no doubt enormous and may seem overwhelming,” ito ay mananatiling “surgical and deliberate in the performance of its mandate so that those who are truly responsible will be brought to justice with solid evidence and under the rule of law.”
Ang ICI ay itinatag sa pamamagitan ng Executive Order No. 94, na nilagdaan ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. noong Setyembre 11, at inatasan na mag-imbestiga sa mga anomalya sa loob ng flood control projects ng pamahalaan at iba pang mga proyektong pang-imprastraktura sa nakalipas na 10 taon.
Ito ay pinamumunuan ni retired Supreme Court justice Andres Reyes Jr., at dating Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio “Babes” Singson at SGV and Co. country managing partner Rossana Fajardo bilang mga miyembro.
