MANILA, Philippines – Pinagtibay ni Representative Brian Poe ang pangako ng Department of Information and Communications Technology na ikonekta ang lahat ng mga target na paaralan ng Department of Education sa Disyembre.
“The commitment of DICT is that by the end of this year, they will be able to connect all the target sites of DepEd,” saad ni Poe sa budget hearing noong Setyembre 29 para sa 2026 General Appropriations Bill, kung saan siya nag-sponsor ng budget ng DICT.
Sinusubaybayan ng DICT ang pagsunod at pakikipag-ugnayan sa mga tagapagbigay ng serbisyo upang matiyak ang pagganap.
“If our colleague has any instances where there are any sites that are too slow or not keeping up with the standards of DICT, I believe the agency is open to flagging these service providers because it is our goal at the end of the day to provide the best services possible to the Filipino people,” ayon kay Poe.
“DICT has communicated to me that they are doing away with old technologies such as 2G and 3G, so that by next year, only new technology like LTE and 5G will be allowed by our service providers,” dagdag niya.
Ang pagsisikap ay sinusuportahan ng pagpopondo. Kasama sa pambansang badyet ng 2025 ang pinakamalaking paglalaan ng Wi-Fi sa kasaysayan ng Pilipinas — P5 bilyon sa awtomatikong taunang pagpopondo, kasama ang karagdagang P2.5 bilyong inilagay noong nakaraang taon bilang prayoridad ng pangulo.
Dito, P1.5 bilyon ang partikular na inilaan para matupad ang target na koneksyon sa Disyembre. May karagdagang P1.5 bilyon din ang iminungkahi sa 2026 budget para ikonekta ang natitirang 12,139 DepEd schools.
Nananatiling alalahanin ang sustainability, ngunit nagpahayag si Poe ng optimismo.
“Ngayon, hopefully when this budget passes, mabibigyan po sila din ng maintenance and operating funds to be able to maintain the connections that they will build in our schools,” aniya.
“The reason why I am so firm in this commitment is this was a SONA commitment of the president, and it is a priority of the DICT and a commitment we made to the Filipino people. So I believe that when they tell me three times in a row that they will connect all the schools by December, gagawin po talaga nila,” dagdag niya.
Sa pasulong, plano ng DICT na mapanatili ang momentum sa pamamagitan ng pag-institutionalize ng performance-based na koneksyon, pagretiro sa mga legacy network, at pag-secure ng pagpopondo sa pagpapatakbo. RNT/MND
