MANILA, Philippines – Pinalutang ni Senador Alan Peter Cayetano ang posibilidad na magkaroon ng snap elections para sa Presidente, Bise Presidente, Senado, at Kongreso at walang incumbents ang papayagang makatakbo para sa isang election cycle.
Sanhi umano ito ng kawalan na ng tiwala ng mga tao sa gobyerno.
Sa pahayag, sinabi ni Cayetano na bagamat ang mga politiko at political figures ay mayroong mga tunay na tagasuporta, “now more than ever in our history, politicians are suspects.”
“People have lost trust in government and government officials. Honestly, who can blame them?” aniya.
“So here’s a thought: WHAT IF we all just resign and allow a Snap Election. From The President, Vice President, Senate, and Congress. With One Important Addition — No Incumbent From The Above Can Run For 1 Election Cycle,” dagdag pa ng senador.
Ang pahayag ni Cayetano ay kasunod ng imbestigasyon sangkot ang umano’y mga korapsyon sa pamahalaan partikular ang mga anomalya sa flood control projects.
Sa kanyang panukala, sinabi ni Cayetano na ang mga gobernador, alkalde, at barangay chairperson ay ilalagay dahil sila ay “generally trusted,” habang ang national government ay magkakaroon ng bureaucracy at magpapatuloy sa tungkulin nito.
Sa snap elections, sinabi ng senador na hindi magkakaroon ng “drama, no excuses, no recycling. Just a clean slate for the Filipino people.”
“If we truly serve them, then starting over shouldn’t scare us. Because real change starts with radical honesty — and the courage to admit when it’s time to step aside,” aniya.
“We should all just consider this ‘What If’ and pray about it,” dagdag ni Cayetano. RNT/JGC
