MANILA, Philippines – Sinabi ni dating Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Nicolas Torre III na ikinokonsidera niya ang early retirement bilang isa sa mga hakbang sa pagtatapos ng kanyang official leave sa Oktubre 31.
Sa ulat, ipinunto ni Torre na dapat muna siyang mag-obserba bago gumawa ng desisyon.
“Saka na natin pag-iisipan. Wala pa namang…there’s still nothing on the horizon so far,” ani Torre sa panayam ng GMA News.
“Those are one of the many options. Those are among the options. That’s among the options available sa atin. Let’s observe first before we make the decision,” dagdag pa niya.
Nang tanungin kung ano ang kanyang plano matapos ang leave, sinabi pa ni Torre na:
“Let’s cross the bridge when we’re there. Wala pa, may mga two weeks pa.”
Matatandaan na inalis sa pwesto si Torre bilang PNP chief noong Agosto 25. Pinalitan siya ni Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.
Si Torre ay nanungkulan bilang PNP chief noong Hunyo 2 at namalagi lamang ng dalawang buwan at tatlong linggo.
Mayroon pa sana siyang isang taon at pitong buwan bilang PNP chief bago umabot sa retirement age sa Marso 11, 2027.
Isa sa dahilang tinukoy ni Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla sa pag-alis kay Torre sa pwesto ay ang kanyang pagsuway sa kautusan ng National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) sa reassignment ng key officials.
Noong Setyembre, sinabi naman ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na ang pag-alis kay Torre bilang PNP chief ay dahil sa hindi nito pagsunod sa direktiba ng NAPOLCOM.
“There is a very clear chain of command that a civilian authority is the over winning authority when it comes to the police. Because the police is essentially – technically a civilian organization. And NAPOLCOM is the civilian authority that has the authority to monitor,” ani Marcos.
”It has powers – very specific powers in terms of the appointments, and that’s why they disagreed. And we cannot – you know alam naman natin uniformed service ‘yan kailangan masundan ang chain of command. So, that’s why…” dagdag pa niya.
Sinabi rin ni Remulla na ikinokonsidera si Torre sa iba pang posisyon sa pamahalaan at hindi rin nawala ang tiwala ng Pangulo rito. RNT/JGC
