MANILA, Philippines – Nagbabala ang Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) sa posibleng Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack sa Nobyembre 5.
Ang DDoS ay isang uri ng cyberattack na bumabaha ng website ng trapiko, na maaaring magpabagal o mag-crash nito, ngunit nilinaw ng DICT na hindi ito data breach at walang pera, account, o personal na impormasyon ang masasagasa.
Ayon kay Usec. Renato Paraiso ng Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), “It’s a very significant date especially when it comes to the hacking community. It’s the fifth of November, which is a global symbol for protest, global day of protest.”
Karaniwan ginagamit ng mga hacker ang araw na ito para sa aktibismo, at maaaring maging target ang flood control controversy ngayong taon.
Hinikayat niya ang mga ahensya ng gobyerno na maging handa at ang publiko na i-report agad ang anumang pagkaantala o breach sa DICT at CICC hotline 1326.
Tiniyak naman ng PNP sa publiko na handa ito sa anumang cyberattack.
“The PNP is in fact prepared for any possible cyberattack. We keep on reminding our units and personnel to always secure the different systems of the PNP,” ani Police Brig. Gen. Bernard R. Yang.
Dagdag ni Acting PNP Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez, pinapalakas ng PNP ang proteksyon ng hardware at software, kabilang ang mahahalagang sistema tulad ng e-Warrant, SIRAS, at INVIS databases, na naglalaman ng sensitibong operational data. Dave Baluyot
