CEBU, Philippines – Umakyat na sa 18 ang bilang ng mga nasawi sa landslide sa landfill sa Barangay Binaliw, Cebu City, ayon sa City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) nitong Miyerkules.
Sinabi ng CDRRMO na 18 katao pa ang nawawala at 18 ang nasugatan.
Patuloy ang search and rescue operations mula pa noong Enero 8 matapos gumuho ang bahagi ng landfill.
Naglabas ang Department of Environment and Natural Resources–Central Visayas ng cease-and-desist order laban sa Prime Integrated Waste Solutions, Inc. (PWS), ang operator ng landfill.
Nauna nang sinabi ng Prime Waste Solutions Cebu na ito ay “working closely with relevant government agencies and the local government to provide the necessary assistance and support to all those affected by the incident.”
Kinumpirma rin ng kumpanya na sinuspinde ang operasyon ng pasilidad at magbibigay sila ng mga update kapag may bagong impormasyon.
Ayon pa sa PWS, “The safety and well-being of our employees, contractors, and neighboring communities remain our top priority.” RNT/MND
