Sa news forum nitong Sabado, Enero 17, sinabi ni Tarriela na “There’s no authority for the Chinese Embassy to ask us to explain.”

“I don’t think there’s a need for me to apologize to the Chinese Embassy,” aniya.

“This constitutes a serious violation of China’s political dignity and a blatant political provocation, which has crossed the red line,” ayon sa Chinese embassy.

“China expresses strong indignation and strongly deplores this, and has lodged solemn representations with the Malacañang Palace, the Department of Foreign Affairs, and the Philippine Coast Guard,” dagdag pa nito.

Kaugnay sa diplomatic protest na inihain ng China laban sa kanya, sinabi ni Tarriela na, “It’s a DFA (Department of Foreign Affairs) concern… diplomatic relations is not our concern.”

“My role as spokesperson for the WPS is to transparently communicate these realities to the Filipino people and the world, in full alignment with our government’s commitment to rules-based order and international law,” ani Tarriela.

“If the Chinese Embassy objects to images or expressions that highlight these violations—often through legitimate public discourse or even satire—it only underscores discomfort with the truth being exposed,” dagdag pa nito.

RNT/JGC
