MANILA, Philippines – Arestado ng mga awtoridad ang isang Taiwanese national na wanted sa pagnanakaw sa kanyang bansa, ayon sa Bureau of Immigration nitong Sabado, Pebrero 7.
Ayon sa BI, ang 33-anyos na si Chien Wen-Chieh ay naaresto noong Enero 28 sa Roxas Boulevard sa Pasay City.
Ito ay pagtugon sa arrest warrant na inisyu ng Taiwan Miaoli District Prosecutor’s Office dahil sa pagnanakaw noong Agosto 31, 2023.
“Chien was apprehended pursuant to a duly issued mission order following official communication from Taiwanese authorities, which identified him as a fugitive from justice,” saad sa pahayag ng BI.
Nasa kustodiya ng BI Warden Facility si Chien habang nangpapatuloy ang deportation proceedings.
Bukod dito, tinukoy ng BI si Chien bilang “undesirable alien” dahil sa “database verification revealed that Chien last entered the Philippines in 2023 as a temporary visitor but failed to extend or convert his visa.” RNT/JGC
