MANILA, Philippines – Inihayag ng House panel na may ilang medical clinics na sinisingil ng sobra at hindi malinaw na miscellaneous fees ang mga nag-a-apply ng driver’s license, kaya’t magsasagawa ng pagsusuri ang Land Transportation Office (LTO).
Ayon kay House Committee on Transportation chair Rep. Franz Pumaren, sinisingil ng mga clinics ang aplikante ng P140 miscellaneous fees at P60 computer fee, bukod sa P300 medical exam fee, pero hindi maipaliwanag kung ano ang saklaw ng dagdag na bayad.
“They said these miscellaneous fees are part of the IT charges. This practice is widespread among medical clinics. We are holding this hearing to ensure the public is not burdened by excess expenses, such as convenience, computer, and miscellaneous fees,” ani Pumaren.
Inamin naman ni LTO Executive Director Atty. Martin Ontog na hindi mino-monitor ng ahensya ang halaga ng miscellaneous fees, ngunit ang nakolektang bayad ay hindi napupunta sa gobyerno. “The LTO will review all accreditations and will try to cut all unnecessary processes and fees, to, of course, help the public,” dagdag niya.
Pumaren rin ay nagtanong tungkol sa pag-accredit ng maraming medical IT providers, kahit mayroon nang Stradcom at Dermalog Identification Systems GmbH na IT providers ng LTO. Sinabi niya na tila sobra na ang papel ng Edgecomm Total Solutions, na nagpo-proseso rin ng medical results para sa Stradcom.
Kinumpirma ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) na bumuo na ito ng task force para suriin ang mga kontrata ng LTO at bawasan ang gastos sa transaksyon para sa publiko. RNT/MND
