MANILA, Philippines – Iniutos ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang pagpapalabas ng P21.47 bilyon upang pondohan ang fuel subsidies para sa mga tsuper at suportahan ang mga infrastructure projects, ayon sa Department of Budget and Management.
Sa pahayag nitong Biyernes, sinabi ng DBM na P2.49 bilyon ang inilaan sa Department of Transportation para sa Fuel Subsidy Program.
Samantala, P18.65 bilyon naman ang inilabas sa Department of Public Works and Highways upang matiyak ang patuloy na trabaho ng mga manggagawa sa infrastructure sector at suportahan ang mga proyekto sa buong bansa. Karagdagan pang P324.36 milyon ang ibinigay sa DPWH upang bayaran ang mga nakaraang obligasyon sa foreign-assisted infrastructure projects.
“Every peso we release is meant to ease a burden, sustain a livelihood, or keep a service running for our people — especially at a time when global events beyond our control are affecting daily life here at home,” sabi ni Budget Secretary Rolando Toledo.
“At a time when global headwinds are pushing fuel prices up, it is critical that we step in where it matters most — supporting our drivers, protecting commuters, and ensuring that no Filipino is left to carry these challenges alone,” dagdag niya.
Nagsimula na rin ang pamahalaan nitong Martes ang pamimigay ng cash assistance sa mga PUV drivers, simula sa mga tricycle driver. Kabuuang 139,000 tricycle drivers sa NCR ang makatatanggap ng P5,000 sa ilalim ng DSWD Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation Program, habang ang ayuda para sa lahat ng PUV drivers ay nakatakdang ipamahagi sa Abril.
Bukod sa cash relief, makatatanggap din ang mga driver ng fuel subsidies mula sa DOTr simula sa katapusan ng Marso, na naaayon sa operating costs ng bawat sektor. RNT/MND
