MANILA, Philippines – Sinabi ng Department of Justice (DOJ) nitong Biyernes, Abril 24 na si dating Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co ay “not technically arrested” ngunit limitado ang kalayaan sa Czech Republic.
Ito ang paglilinaw ni Justice Spokesperson Polo Martinez kung saan sinabi na si Co ay nasa jurisdiction pa rin ng Czech Republic.
“For analogy, it’s similar to a situation in the airport where the person arrives and immigration denies entry or excludes the person. Technically, not arrested but there is a deprivation of liberty to a certain degree,” ani Martinez.
Sinabi pa niya na naganap ang “official law enforcement action” sa Czechia noong nakaraang linggo.
“This fact was wholly ascertained and remains undisputed,” aniya.
“Latest report we have is [that] he is still within the jurisdiction of Czech authorities,” dagdag ni Martinez.
Sa pahayag, sinabi ni Palace Press Officer Claire Castro na walang kontradiksyon sa pinakahuling pahayag ng DOJ at ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. noong nakaraang linggo.
“Maliwanag ang sinabi ng Pangulo at ni SOJ Vida. Walang anumang contradiction. Hindi nanggaling sa Pangulo ang salitang ‘aresto.’ Ang sabi ng Pangulo ay nasa kustodiya ng Czech Republic si Zaldy Co dahil sa kakulangan sa proper documentation. Nahuli si Zaldy Co due to immigration concerns,” paliwanag ni Castro.
Matatandaan na noong nakaraang linggo ay inanunsyo ni Marcos na si Co ay “detained in Prague after crossing into the Czech Republic without proper documentation and is currently in the custody of Czech authorities.” RNT/JGC
