MANILA, Philippines – Sinabi ng legal team ni Vice President Sara Duterte nitong Miyerkules na inaasahan na nila ang naging pasya ng House Committee on Justice na may probable cause para sa impeachment complaints laban sa kanya, dahil sa direksyon ng mga pagdinig.
Sa pahayag ni Atty. Michael Poa, tagapagsalita ng defense team ng Bise Presidente, sinabi ng mga abogado na “was not unexpected” ang naging desisyon ng komite batay sa naging takbo ng mga pagdinig.
“The finding of probable cause by the House Committee on Justice was not unexpected, given the direction the proceedings had taken,” ayon sa defense team.
Gayunman, iginiit ng kampo ni Duterte na ang impeachment proceedings sa Kamara ay “lumihis sa constitutional design,” dahil lumawak umano ito lampas sa saklaw ng verified complaints.
“We respectfully maintain that the proceedings before the Committee departed from the constitutional design. Instead of confining itself to the verified complaints and their attachments, the process expanded into matters that properly belong to a full trial,” dagdag pa nila.
Ang pahayag ay kasunod ng pag-unanimous vote ng House committee on justice na nagkaroon ng probable cause para i-impeach si Vice President Duterte batay sa dalawang reklamo laban sa kanya.
Ayon kay House committee chairperson at Batangas Second District Rep. Gerville Luistro, lahat ng 53 miyembrong dumalo ay bumoto pabor at walang tumutol.
Nauna rito, nagdesisyon ang komite matapos ang serye ng pagdinig sa mga impeachment complaint. RNT
