MANILA, Philippines – Suportado ng mga senador ang panawagan para sa konkreto at agarang aksyon para palakasin ang karapatan at proteksyon ng mga manggagawa kasabay ng tumataas na gastusin at hindi gumagalaw na sahod.
Sa pahayag, sinabi ni Senador Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan na nahihirapan ang mga pamilya dahil sa epekto ng tensyon sa Middle East.
“Even before, people have had to rely on resourcefulness or side hustles just to get through each day. Now, the minimum wage is far from enough to cover a family’s daily needs. That is why I support the call to raise workers’ wages,” ani Pangulinan.
“Raising their wages is not charity, it is justice,” dagdag pa niya.
Aniya, hindi naman humihingi ng sobra-sobra ang mga manggagawa ngunit kailangan din umano nila ang makatao at nararapat na sahod na makatutugon sa kanilang pangangailangan.
Mapalalakas din umano ng patas na pasahod ang ekonomiya ng bansa.
“But there is still much more that needs to be done. The government, and everyone in it, has the duty to create more and better jobs for Filipinos here in the Philippines. Make food and transportation truly affordable. Fix the broken systems that drain incomes. Ensure fair earnings across the food supply chain—from farmers and fisherfolk to consumers.”
Ani Pangilinan, dapat din na siguruhing makikinabang ang mga magsasaka, mangingisda, at consumer mula sa food supply chain at ang transportation, energy, at healthcare systems na epektibo sa mga tao.
“Filipino workers don’t need to be given fish or taught how to fish. We simply need to protect our marine resources, remove the obstacles and waste, and let them do what they already know how to do—work properly and with dignity,” sinabi ng senador.
Samantala, sinabi naman ni Senador Jinggoy Estrada na bukod sa pagkilala sa kontribusyon ng mga manggagawa sa bansa, kailangan din ng mga ito ng matibay na implementasyon ng mga programa para sa kapakanan ng mga ito.
“They bear the continuous rise in daily expenses—from transportation, food, and other basic necessities—yet they remain resilient and continue to fight to sustain their livelihoods.”
“Beyond paying tribute and recognizing their vital contribution to the nation, urgent action and concrete steps from the government are needed. The implementation of programs such as subsidies and other forms of assistance should be strengthened to boost their income and protect their welfare amid current challenges,” dagdag ni Estrada.
Ani Estrada, ang tunay na sukatan ng pag-unlad ay kung paano pinahahalagahan at pinoprotektahan ng pamahalaan ang mga manggagawa nito.
Samantala, muli namang ipinanawagan ni Senador Sherwin Gatchalian ang pag-amyenda sa Magna Carta for Public School Teachers, o kilala bilang Republic Act No. 4670.
Aniya, ang Revised Magna Carta for Public School Teachers, o Senate Bill No. 363, na inihain niya ay poprotekta sa security of tenure ng mga guro, magbabawal sa mga ito sa paggawa ng non-teaching tasks, at poprotekta sa mga ito sa pag-ako ng out-of-pocket expenses.
Nilalayon din sa panukala ang maayos na working conditions, maiwasan ang teacher understaffing at excessive workloads, at protektahan ang mga guro sa unregulated class sizes.
“We continue to push for amendments to the Magna Carta for Public School Teachers in order to uphold the welfare of our teachers. Decades have passed since this law was enacted, and it is time for us to fulfill its promises,” sinabi ni Gatchalian.
Nagtutulak din ito sa institusyonalisasyon ng benepisyo katulad ng calamity leave at longevity pay, among others, at magtakda ng circumstances at kondisyon sa pagbibigay ng special hardship allowances. RNT/JGC
