MANILA, Philippines – Nakiisa ang Rizal Park sa pagdiriwang ng Europe Day sa pagpapakita ng asul at dilaw na kulay na sumisimbolo sa European Union sa dancing fountain sa naturang pasyalan nitong Sabado, Mayo 9.
Ang insiyatibo ay bahagi ng aktibidad ng European Union Delegation sa Manila sa Rizal Park, tampok din ang libreng paggamit ng photo booth at pagpapasinaya sa special mural.
Ayon sa EU, ang Rizal Park na naiuugnay sa buhay at legasiya ni Dr. Jose Rizal, ay patuloy na sumasalamin sa “historical and cultural connections between the Philippines and Europe.”
“Europe Day is, above all, a celebration of unity in diversity — of different cultures, languages, and histories coming together. Because in the end, it is these connections — between people, cultures and ideas — that shape a more peaceful and shared future,” sinabi pa ni EU Ambassador to the Philippines Massimo Santoro.
Ang Europe Day ay taunang ginugunita tuwing Mayo 9 na marka ng anibersaryo ng Schuman Declaration of 1950, na naglatag ng mga pundasyon ng EU at values of peace, solidarity, and cooperation.
Ipinakilala sa selebrasyon sa Pilipinas ngayong taon ang pagpapakilala ng EU-Philippines commemorative mural at mapa sa European Garden o Noli Me Tangere Garden.
“Through this celebration, the European Union reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its partnership with the Philippines and to promoting dialogue, cultural exchange and people-to-people connections,” sinabi ng delegasyon. RNT/JGC
