MANILA, Philippines – Hinimok ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang mga kabataang Pinoy sa Japan na sulitin at samantalahin ang mga oportunidad sa naturang bansa ngunit huwag kalimutan ang bansang pinagmulan.
Ang pahayag na ito ay nang makipagkita siya sa Filipino community sa Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, na kanyang unang aktibidad sa kanyang four-day state visit sa Tokyo, Japan.
“To you, our dear young Filipino citizens living here in Japan, in the midst of the challenges and uncertainties in the world today, I encourage you to take advantage of all the opportunities available to you in this country, and in return, contribute positively to the society that you have taken as your own,” ani Marcos sa kanyang speech.
Umaasa naman ang Pangulo na magtatagumpay ang mga kabataang ito sa kanilang mga napiling career, sa pagnenegosyo man, arts, hospitality o iba pa.
“I urge you to make a good account of yourselves and be proud of your heritage as Filipinos,” ani Marcos.
Sinabi rin niya na ang paninirahan sa Japan “requires a healthy balance” dahil ito ay bansa ng “profound tradition, structure, and ethic.”
“For us to thrive here, we need to be masters of the art of integration. We must respect the local laws, embrace the culture, and learn languages,” sinabi pa ng Pangulo.
“However, integration does not mean assimilation. It does not mean forgetting your roots and abandoning who you truly are. Our greatest asset is our unique identity.”
Nanawagan si Marcos sa mga kabataan na isabuhay pa rin ang pagka-Filipino sa kanilang araw-araw na pamumuhay kasabay ng respeto sa social norms ng Japan.
“You are the torchbearers of the next 70 years of our relations in Japan. Through you, the legacy of the brotherhood and friendship that we have forged will carry on,” sinabi ni Marcos. RNT/JGC
